But then I also remembered something else.
I had not answered the phone.
I was still recovering from my car accident and my sweet daughter had come over mid week to bring me lunch and to help out around the house. She is taking 5 classes this semester and also holds down a job. If we are lucky we sometimes see her on weekends. But she was there mid week to help and she answered the phone.
I was overwhelmed with the awesomeness of God. Had I not been in a car accident and needing help, my daughter would not have been at the house. She would not have received the precious gift of one last fabulous chat with her Grandma Dean Dean.
I would endure a thousand broken ribs in exchange for such a priceless gift of perfect timing.
I then started thinking about how excited my mom was about the 70’s Soiree. She provided so much fun input.
You know what’s coming right?
I gave a eulogy at my mother’s memorial service and one quote that I included spoke to the type of friend my mother was:
“It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.” ~Marlene Dietrich
I have been blessed with a number of blog based 4 a.m. friends.
So dear friends I would like to invite you to my home. Come and enjoy fabulous Watergate Salad, superb Tang punch, and of course no 70’s Soiree would be complete without fondue. That was the one thing my mother insisted that we must have at the party.
“To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under the sun.
A time to be born and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal ...
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance ...” Ecclesiastes 3:1~4
Let’s dance,
Laura
