My sweet Grandma Jingles (as affectionately called by my children) recently sent me a package. She had decided to move again into an assisted living facility and had to downsize a bit. She thought that I would probably adore and treasure the child's tea set she played with as a girl.
Treasure indeed. These wee cups are over 80 years old.
I adore the sweet bluebird that adorns the dishes.
I am overjoyed that the dishes were well loved and have a few chips and cracks.
Also nestled in the package was this set of small glass dishes. I guessed that they they were salt cellars but the larger dish had me wondering. A quick call to granny revealed that this is also a child’s play set. She said her older sister, Edna, had one as a girl and my great grandmother, Emma, would give them tinned peaches to fill the bowls with.
The small picture that I placed within the vignette is of the “Laura” plantation in Louisiana. Which reminds me that I still need to share all of my New Orleans adventures.
My last final is on Wednesday. Oh happy day. Life is just full of treasures. Even with the chips and cracks.
