Transforming a Space You Don’t Like

Okay, so you booked a venue that requires a little work. Take the focus off the areas and elements you don’t like by creating focal points.

To create the right mood (romantic, dramatic, relaxed) try using lighting to enhance the elements you like. You could light the walls or columns with color or create a monogram to display on the wall or dance floor.

If there are poles or walls that you don’t care for, use draping to cover them and create a totally different feel. Consider using certain fabrics to drop a ceiling or create rooms within a room. When creating individual rooms, consider lighting each space with a different color.

If you’re not too thrilled with the look of the banquet chairs use chair covers to not only transform the look of the chairs but use them as an opportunity to add more color and textures to the room.

Speaking of adding more color and texture, a new trend is covering the boring floors of a hall with big area rugs, making the space softer or depending on the patterns you choose, you could end up with a modern, contemporary, classic or funky vibe.
