Gothic Wedding Gowns | Flower Girl Dresses

Choosing a romantic wedding dresses and Gothic wedding rings are just a couple of the many preparations that must ensure when planning a gothic wedding theme for your special day. Another important part of planning a gothic wedding is choosing a dress not only the bride and her bridesmaids, but also for the flower girl dress for less. The gothic flower girl sets the tone of your Gothic wedding theme, telling your guests what to expect. From your invitations, pre-nuptial parties, wedding website, and word-of-mouth, your guests will come anticipating something romantic and different than the usual American wedding.

The flower girl dresses can either be simple and inexpensive or elaborate and costly. Same with your "romantic wedding dresses" that choose in gothic style, you can buy the flower girl dresses ready made at a wedding suply store or online at a reputable wedding websites or have them custom made professionally or by a friend or family member that sews.

This role is usually by a small girl child, a friend’s child or niece or maybe even little sister. Or sometimes even the family dog. No matter, the child should be outfitted according to the theme of the wedding, which can often means something frilly, in Victorian, Medieval or Renaissance with ruffles and some sort of little headdress, like a crown or bow.

So, if you have tying the romantic wedding dresses in with your Gothic wedding theme, your flower girls could be wearing anything from Medieval, Renaissance, Victorian (Baroque, Rococo, American Civil War), Edwardian, or a Modern black wedding dresses for your Gothic themed wedding. The flower girl dresses may be ready-made, home sewn, or custom-designed. The fabric may be fine silk, damask or brocade, wool or silk dress, or even cotton.

The flower girl set doesn't need to consume much thought. It’s pretty simple and the little girl is usually very happy to play dress up and wear whatever you choose. Whatever ideas you select, just keep them in tone with your "romantic wedding dresses" also overall wedding theme and use the flower girl dresses to build further on your gothic theme.

White Gothic Wedding Dresses

Gothic wedding gowns do not have to be black. Dark or black wedding dresses immediately comes to our mind when we heard gothic-themed wedding because dark colors was easy and most often used to display the gothic atmosphere, including on wedding dress. But if you want to try something else for your gothic wedding ceremony, gothic wedding dress in white can be an alternative choice. Especially if you plan to the church weddings, black wedding dresses aren’t usually worn. They will fit right in if you hold your wedding in a castle or a gothic chapel.

However, even you planned your wedding ceremony in a castle or a chapel with gothic theme, so much the ornament of the decor or chapel interior is likely to be black and that you will actually want something a little bit different to jump out. Black, purple and deep deep red are the classical colours that most people associate with gothic clothing and you'll most likely want your groom to dress in black with blood-red trim. A black velvet-effect waistcoat with bone clasps over a white or red ruffed shirt may look impressive.

For you as the bride, remember that in time-honored 19th-century gothic literature the story was always the perfect and innocent young lady with a passionate streak who was seduced by or sacrificed to the dark master of the castle with the bite on the neck that drew blood. It can be very provocative and visually beautiful to duplicate this at your nuptials with a sensual Victorian-style white or off-white gothic wedding gown. Pick out one with flowing long sleeves, a high neck and lots of lace and tulle for the full sacrificial impression.

Gothic themed wedding ceremonies are frequently booked in wintertime or close to Halloween, so you can expect that it won't be excessively hot, particularly as night time approaches. For the evening, if you're changing out of your gothic wedding gown, you might want to choose a Mortician-style black satin gown with hanging sleeves, or medieval-style dresses in purple or red. However, how about a gothic boned corset in black or deep red? It fits the theme for you and your groom to be dressed alike now that you are married and you can change your make-up and hairdo to give you that vampire’s look.

The gothic jewelry will be all important as well. This is one facet of your costume that can carry-over from the daytime into the evening, and if you pick out dark jewelry that will go well with both wedding gowns you can create a link that also has a deep symbolic sensual meaning. Slave bangles and choker necklaces or gothic wedding rings are ideal and will put the finishing touches on your "gothic wedding dress".

Among the best things about wearing white gothic wedding gowns is that your photos will be impressive, so take the time to make the most of that by considering how your dress or dresses will look beside your groom's outfit so that the two of you make the most of every similarity and contrast that you have. Individuality is the key here and you will find a lot of ideas are triggered by all of the gothic wedding dresses that you will find on the internet. When you are planning your "white gothic wedding dresses" it can help to keep a scrapbook and fill this with ideas as you come across them. This will help to make it easier to visualize your wedding dress in the gothic theme.

Planning a Goth Wedding and Black Gothic Wedding Dresses

If you’re planning a gothic wedding on a low budget, it can be just as much fun as planning any other themed wedding. The gothic wedding dress can be a corset style in black or a richly deep scarlet red. In fact, with the right makeup and accessories, you can even wear a stunning corset white wedding dress with a gothic theme.

The main characteristic of a gothic wedding theme is the darker color scheme, with the color black and red dominating. Black wedding attires, dramatic hues, candles and spooky objects fully reminiscent the gothic wedding. The wedding venue may take place at an ancient castle or old buildings.

For a perfect gothic wedding you need to plan carefully for the ceremony beforehand. Choose every thing starting from the venue, dress, music and the sets according to the gothic theme. For the music choose something appropriate which will merge with the whole theme. As dark is the main the theme of the ceremony, the black wedding dresses will be of the darker shades. Choose any dark colors dresses to merge with the whole concept. There are many gothic clothing designers that would be able to help the brides find a stunning gothic style for their wedding dresses.

The gothic wedding ceremonies have different motifs and themes. Some of the themes and motifs can be Victorians, Medieval or Renaissance, Fairy or Cemetery. In the Victorian Gothic Wedding all attires are based according to the Victorian Era. The only thing is that in this wedding only dark color shades are worn. For a gothic wedding blood red roses would be perfect than any other. Table clothes in dark colors with silver candles holders are preferable.

Medieval is the original connotation of Gothic. Wall tapestries, silver or iron candlesticks, skulls, Persian rugs, velvet drapes, framed medieval or Pre-Raphaelite prints, gargoyles and swords are usually used in a medieval style Gothic wedding. Any gothic music will suit in this décor. For those graveyard lovers, the cemetery theme is the perfect choice.

For your wedding invitations, you can take a hauntingly romantic theme with black roses or dark blood red roses with black accents on a white card. Create ceremony programs along the same theme and design with embellishments and graphics depicting black vines with rich red flowers. Deep dark colored roses, calla lilies, orchids are all great selections. Choose the darkest red roses and contrast them with white calla lilies and black and red tulle accents.

Goth wedding cakes are actually very stunning. A white fondant cake will allow for the striking contrast of the black and blood red accents whether you choose flowers or other embellishments for the design of the cake. To keep the richness of the theme running through the cake, choose a red velvet cake or dark chocolate cake. This will give the cake a luxurious and stunning deep red color to contrast with the white fondant icing. The location for your gothic wedding should be very special. Whether or not you choose to get married in a church under some denomination is completely up to you. Beach weddings, heading to Las Vegas or a beautiful gothic location would all be fabulous choices. Use your imagination and you are sure to come up with the perfect destination.

After all the festivities are over for your gothic wedding ceremony, you will want to be planning your honeymoon. You could tour and haunted houses or visit gothic castles or even visit ancient European cities. You can choose to plan your wedding yourself or work with a gothic wedding planner. But remember, this way is just the start to all of the wonderful things that will go into planning your gothic wedding. From the invitations to the gothic wedding dress you choose; from wedding ceremony to the gothic tours for your honeymoon. You should be able to plan a day that you will remember forever.

Modern Black Wedding Dresses

You will be able to pull of an elegant but modern look with a black wedding dress. I agree for church weddings, black wedding dresses aren’t usually worn. Black wedding dresses are not the fashion for church weddings. They will fit right in if you hold your wedding in a castle or a gothic chapel. You can also decorate your wedding venue in gothic style to suit your dress.

While black may be the most prominent color, it does not have to be the only color of your dress. A combination of black and silver can look stunning. Having red flounces under the skirt can be used to represent blood at a gothic wedding. Black also looks great with pink or rose. But you can just have a white wedding dress with some black accessories.

Black wedding dress can be worn again, unlike the traditional white. With a white wedding dress, there’s hardly another occasion when you can wear them again, unlike with black dresses. Since black dresses are the most popular formal wear for women, it’s not surprising that you would want to wear that on your wedding day.

Sarah Jessica Parker was one of those who wore black to her own wedding to Matthew Broderick. She wore a dress with a full skirt. The wedding was kept from the media, which is one of the reasons for her not wearing a white dress. After her wedding though, she was reported to regret not wearing white. She wished that she had found the courage to go with something more traditional. But then, not all cultures accept white as the traditional wedding gown. Truth is, it was only in 1840 that Queen Victoria pioneered the trend of wearing white to your wedding. Before that occasion, any kind color or design was worn by brides.

Spanish weddings usually involve brides wearing black. Wearing black means that the bride will be loyal to her husband all her life. Some people just can’t accept wearing black to your own wedding, though. Usually, these are the older folks, or those who think it’s not Christian-like to wear black or have a gothic theme for weddings. They might also quote you the saying, ‘Married in black, you will wish yourself back,’ implying that you will regret the marriage. Of course, you can just tell them that you will not let an old saying rule your actions now.

Some brides like to shock but for the sake of future relationships with your family and older friends you might want to give them a little warning. You should make them understand why you are doing it and that you don’t mean it to be anti-Christian or the like. Point out that it will be a wedding to remember. This can go a long way to beating down any resistance in the family to "black wedding dresses".

Paper Cuts for your Wedding Day

I can't tell you how hard I've fallen for these gorgeous paper cuts. Before I discovered London-based Julene Harrison's site Made By Julene, I'd never even heard of the art, but it's been a quick conversion from ignorance to passion!  Just imagine how heavenly these personalised pictures would look as table labels - you could then hang them in your home as a permanent reminder of your big day. Amazing!

Our grandparents

My mom sent over these old photos of my grandparents, who met on Valentine's Day back in 1945. My grandfather was an American pilot stationed in England, and my grandmother was an English girl living with her parents. They were set up on a blind date (to a Valentine's Day dance), hit it off, and got married in August of that same year. I love these photos of them right before they got married and on their honeymoon (the last one is in a gondola!).

Real Autumn Wedding: Angela & Colin

There definitely seems to be a trend connecting autumn, orange and dahlias - as I've seen a fair few weddings that used them last autumn. It's not surprising, as dahlias are just the most gorgeous flowers, jaunty and colourful, and available in every hue under the rainbow. Angela and Colin used them to fabulous effect on their big day, scattering petals over the buffet tables, and arranging them in simple blue jars (also hugely in fashion) and even as a motif on their invitations. Other wedding ideas to copy list are the individual picnic rugs (brilliant favours), the cute ring cushion and the two-tone stripes on the bridesmaid dress- so much more cheerful than a block colour!  Many thanks to Jessamyn Harris for her gorgeous pictures.

Is there a maximum number of lines available for the text?
Yes, there are a maximum number of lines available for the text for all designs. When
personalizing a wedding invitation card online, the fields that guide the entering of the personalizeddetails will indicate the perimeters, including line count and character count.
When customizing, is there a font list that is available for clients to choose from or is it only the font used in the sample that is available?
Currently, designs do not allow for font selection. Only the fonts shown on our online store are available at this time.
Are there set colors for the fonts or is there a swatch list to view? Can we have more than one color used in the text? (ie. the text in one and the names in another)

Approximately how long before the proof is emailed to us from when the wedding invitation order is placed? How long for changes if there are any and are they required to be sent by a particular date after the proof is sent?

Our Stationery Designer will automatically send you one complimentary digital proof within 2 business days to the email address provided in your billing information. Due to the high volume of orders we are unable to send a second proof if you have requested modifications, any changes will be applied as accurately as possible. Please note that changes can only be made to the personalization and not the invitation design.
If we have not heard from you after 7 business days, your order will be canceled and deleted from our system. Any revisions during the proof stage will delay the delivery date and may result in an additional customizing fee. Our Designer will indicate in advance, if the changes you have requested will be accessed this additional charge.

Makeover Monday ~ Reviving Tired Linens

I have been hoarding collecting vintage and antique linens for a few years now. A good portion of my collection was acquired while living in Germany. No matter how many napkins and tablecloths I may have, if I see something lovely at an estate sale or flea market it comes home with me. I guess I have an insane desire to rescue cloth. Thankfully I now have an outlet for my passion in the form of Metis Linens.

As you may know I will soon be hosting the High Tea Tablescape linky party on February 23rd. Over the weekend I began rummaging through various closets and chests in search of inspiration for my own tablescape. I was also looking to see which lovely vintage and antique linen pieces could be added to the ever growing prize piles I will be offering at the party. Before to long my house looked something like this:

 

Ok I’m kidding. I found the above picture by googling “hoarder”. :) But I did find that I had no less than four white tablecloths all the same size. I am not even going to admit to how many sets of white napkins I have. (Mr. Décor reads this blog. :)

I decided that I wanted to create a tablescape in a pink and white theme but found out that I owned not a single piece of pink linen. So I selected the shabbiest, dingiest white tablecloth and napkins and headed to the wash room. First I hand soaked everything in warm water and oxy clean to rid the fabrics of any stains and brighten them up a bit.

I then grabbed a bottle of Rit Petal Pink Dye. I do like the liquid better than the powder. I wanted the tablecloth to have just a hint of pink so I added 1 tablespoon to the hot water bath. The napkins received about 3 tablespoons of dye as I wanted them to be a bit more of an intense pink. 

Once the linens were transformed into the wonderful shades of blush and bashful I hung everything out on the line. This is always the preferred choice, versus a dryer, when dealing with vintage and antique linens.

I removed everything from the line while they were still ever so slightly damp to make ironing a breeze. Here is the new pink cloth on the dining room table. I added a cream colored topper so you could better see the contrast.

I then began gathering all of my pretty dishes that feature shades of white, pink and green to use on the table. This dish is one of my favorites. It was a gift from Grandma Jingles and I didn’t even have to “demand” it. ( Smile~ a reference to Saturday’s post.) I just adore how it looks against the pink cloth.

Ok, back to the party. Everyone who links up a tablescape on February 23rd has a chance to win either the highly sought after “Fit For A Queen” or the equally desirable “Royally Scrumptious” winning titles. Of course to have such glorious awards we need a few experts on hand. So I invited two of the best tablescapers in all of blogland. First, we have the beautiful Susan from Between Naps On The Porch. I am sure that she really needs no introduction, but in case you are brand new to blogging, Susan hosts the highly successful linky party “Tablescape Thursday”. Week after week Susan presents such inspired beauty that her images often takes my breath away.

Next, we have my dear friend Yvonne from Stonegable. Now many of you might be familiar with Yvonne’s talent for creating truly unique and original tablescapes. Every time I see one of her designs I think “Love lives in the details.”  But I know a little something about Yvonne that perhaps you don’t. Given that the theme of this linky party is High Tea Tablescapes I think it is fitting that our expert Yvonne is well versed in high tea as she grew up in both Scotland and England. ( I try not to covet her fleur de lis utensil holders.)

 

I am in the midst of rearranging my living room to accommodate such esteemed greatness. I’ve moved in two new chairs. How do like it so far?

Real Colourful Quirky Wedding: Joycie & Steven

If you want a colourful big day, you're going to get tonnes of wedding ideas from this incredible affair. Joycie and Steven took over a whole street in their home town in California, and gave their guests access to an ice cream shop, an old dive bar and an awesome bowling alley. How cool is that for a series of venues! I'm loving how they kept the colour palette for their clothes muted, while going all-out for a riot of reds and blues in the accessories. Just check out those chequered table cloths, and the heart scattered cake {very Valentine's} and the exquisite red anemones. Most of all, check out the smiles - they clearly had a blast.
